Exciting times ahead as licence is granted

A warm welcome to Amy Murphy Racing.

August has been a really exciting period. We got the keys to Hamilton Stables at the beginning of August, which coincided with the arrival of a number of horses including Listed EBF/TBA Mares’ Hurdle winner Kalane, whom I bought as a foal. Other horses to have arrived include Mariah’s Legend, who was an extremely promising second on debut in a bumper for Charlie Longsdon, as well as Pellinor, the first foal out of Carole’s Legacy, and King’s Reste, a half-sister to J’yVole.

This month has also seen the first British yearling sales at Doncaster take place, where I secured two lovely colts, who are both for sale. The first, a son of Champs Elysees will be more of a longer term project, while the second, an Arcano, is definitely one that will make up into a two-year-old. It was on the Friday of that week that I got the brilliant news that the BHA had approved my license and so the team and myself are ready to get cracking.

This period is always a busy time with the sales circuit getting going into full swing and I shall be in attendance at Fairyhouse, Goffs and of course Tattersalls in October and more than likely Arqana – then it is onto the various Horses in Training sales.

In other exciting news, more for the town and also the Racecourse side of town, is the news that the Jockey Club shall be creating a new uphill gallop very close to Hamilton Stables. It is a new innovation for Europe, but these style gallops have been in existence in Japan for numerous years. It will make a huge difference to those based here. Our first runner for the yard could well be in as early as two or three weeks time. All being well a possible option for Pyla could be a 7f handicap at Thirsk on the 13th of September.
