Amy Murphy joined the training ranks in 2016, following a lifelong connection to racing through her family’s Wychnor Park Stud in Staffordshire. Growing up around horses, she developed an early passion for their training, development and wellbeing.
Her career included valuable experience with leading industry names, including Gai Waterhouse in Australia, where she worked with horses such as future Group 1 winner Sweet Idea. Returning to England in 2013, Amy joined Luca Cumani’s Bedford House Stables in Newmarket, becoming Assistant Trainer in 2015 before gaining her own training licence in 2016.
Amy spent the following nine years training in Newmarket, saddling more than 200 winners across both Flat and National Hunt racing. Among the highlights were Betfair Hurdle winner Kalashnikov, Grade 1 winner Pride of America and Manifesto Novices’ Chase winner Devenish Manifesto. During this time, she developed a reputation for her hands-on approach, meticulous attention to detail and close involvement with the horses under her care.
In March 2025, Amy began a new chapter, relocating her training operation to Chantilly, one of the great centres of French racing. The move brought her closer to a racing environment she had long admired, while providing the opportunity to build a new operation and develop horses within a different racing landscape.
Her second full season in France has already produced a number of memorable successes. Tokaido won the Group 2 Prix Robert Papin at Chantilly, while Victoire Magique landed the Listed Prix Michel Houyvet at Deauville. Jabracadabra has also consistently performed at a high level, placing in a number of competitive races throughout the season.
In 2026, Amy further expanded her operation with the opening of a satellite yard in La Teste, giving her a base from which to target the southern French programme while continuing to operate from Chantilly. The new yard recorded its first winner with Dragon Force, the first winning progeny of Persian Force, marking another significant milestone as Amy continues to establish her stable in France.
From her early years at Wychnor Park Stud, through her experiences in Australia and Newmarket, to her new home in Chantilly, Amy’s career has been shaped by a lifelong connection with racing, a desire to keep learning and a determination to embrace new challenges. Her move to France marks the latest chapter in an ambitious journey — and the beginning of an exciting new era for her training operation.
