Mamalouka Shines Again

Mamalouka (D. MacAuliffe, A. Don & Friend) took the opportunity to shine for the second time in 2024 when scoring comfortably at Lingfield Park on Thursday 7th March.  Having already scored at Kempton in January under Tom Marquand, she then put in a lacklustre performance at Newcastle to finish 5th.  Last week, she received the perfect Lingfield ride from Kieran Shoemark, sitting handy in fourth until the pace quickened at the three pole.  Pushed wide around the home turn, Kieran galvanised her as they straightened up towards the finishing post to win by a length and eased down a notch.

This daughter of Mehmas out of Day Creek was purchased in 2022 at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale by Stroud Coleman Bloodstock for Daniel MacAuliffe & Anoj Don.  She was a filly that we had high hopes for given her physical presence but, frustratingly, she was somewhat disappointing in her work at home.  We gave her plenty of time out at grass to strengthen and mature but it wasn't until her race at Leicester in September 2023 that it became apparent she was struggling to breath.  She received a wind operation and another three months off the track before finally showing what she is capable of.  She also has a workable handicap mark so, with any luck, there should be another couple of races in her this year.
